Gibberish Vs Lynn Fluenza

I really had fun doing this. It made me work on anatomy, poses, and I finally used two characters I was eager to draw in combat. On the left, Gibberish, a superhero that uses a special language to tap into the power of a supernatural realm known as The Light, and on the right, Lynn Fluenza, who's power consists in everything related to influenza, from producing mucus to releasing a hormone that gives headaches, fevers, etc.

I love the colouring on this. For some reason, the pencils were very cooperative. Lynn Fluenza pops like a firecracker on this. And Gibberish didn't come out half-bad either.

For the record, Gibberish can use his secret language (which is also known as Gibberish. I know, it gets confusing, but bear with me) for three purposes: Defense (in magenta), Attack (in cyan) and Effects (in yellow). Effects include simple things such as healing, short-distance teleportation, and wilder effects such as turning rain into sawdust. It gets wild. But unfortunately for Gibberish, he eventually needs to recharge. Speaking in Gibberish takes a lot of focus and energy.

As for Lynn, well, she doesn't really break a sweat. She can produce mucus indefinitely, which is useful as it serves both as her weapons and means of transportation (as showcased here). She can get exhausted if she fights too long though. She's still human (to some extent), she needs to catch her breath once in a while. Also, her mucus is somehow very conducting. If anyone was to charge it with an electric pulse (or God forbid, set it on fire) while the mucus is still somehow attached to her body, it could very well be fatal. Or, at least, it would end the fight.

I have come to realize I make strange characters. This drawing made it clear. Most of my female villains are snooty. But Lynn Fluenza, however, is rather more snotty. As for Gibberish, well, he's based of a singer in his fifties that I look up to, and his powers and backstory are inspired by the songs written by that man. So yeah, not your run-of-the-mill hero versus villain thing going on.
